Mrs. Linda Rikard “Maw Maw” Fleming, age 77 of 609 Toney Rd., Union, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Mrs. Fleming was born in Batesburg-Leesville, November 12, 1948, a daughter of the late Edward L. and Edna Carroll Rikard. She was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Fleming was a founder of Fleming Electronics which later became Radio Shack and recently she was a substitute teacher with Union Co. Schools.
Mrs. Fleming was a faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joyful Hearts Sunday school class and a member of the Ladies Bible Study group. She loved her church family and was known to the children and youths as “Maw Maw”. Mrs. Fleming was a survivor of breast cancer and she and her daughter participated in fund raisers for breast cancer research. She was also an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving are three daughters, Denise Henderson and husband Toby of Union, Candice Overbay and husband Ted of Johnson City, TN, and Ronna Leigh Fleming of Union; a brother, William Rikard and wife Deborah of Lexington; and grandchildren, Hunter Jordan Henderson, Haylee Len Henderson, Hayden Theodore Overbay, Kara Leigh Pruitt and Dominic Lee Pruitt.
She is also survived by special cousins, George and Rosemary Metts of Branchville and James and Shelby Rikard of Batesburg-Leesville, and special friends, Louanne Hickson, Elaine “Nona” Robertson and Keri Adams all of Union. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Catherine Rikard.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to friends and caregivers, Dabraida Alman, Kaci Davis, Teresa Humphries and Cassie Humphries along with the doctors, nurses and staff of Agape Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Fleming and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex Calhoun. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family asks that those attending wear Gamecock or Christmas attire.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be Ted Overbay, Toby Henderson, Matthew DeHart, Sean Paschall, Nick Davis and Chip Calhoun.
