Linda Crocker Goings

Linda Crocker Goings, 72, of the Santuc Community in Union, South Carolina, passed away at the family home on February 25, 2022. Linda is survived by her husband, George Richard Goings, her two children Melanie Goings Campbell (Jay) of Pauline, South Carolina, and Robert Fredrick Goings (Rebecca) of Columbia, South Carolina. She is the proud grandmother of Pressley Ann Campbell, Madeleine Grace Goings, Grayson Middleton Goings, and Robert Fredrick Goings, Junior.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Union High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop College in 1969, majoring in elementary education and French. She further earned a Master of Education degree from Winthrop College.  Linda taught in the Union County School District for 38 years, primarily at Foster Park Elementary School, Monarch Elementary School, and Excelsior Middle School.  Post-retirement, she served as a reading interventionist at Lockhart and Foster Park Elementary Schools. Additionally, she was the pianist and organist for MonAetna Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Union, and Cane Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was an active, lifelong member.

Linda was a dedicated member of the Union Music Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Union Lions Club.

Linda was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Crocker (Merle Smith). She was born in Union, South Carolina on October 4, 1949. Her siblings are Thomas P. Crocker (Cindy) of Anderson and Laura Crocker Koskela (Steve) of Santuc.  She has six loving nieces and nephews: Anna Catherine Crocker of Charleston, Benjamin H. Crocker (Townsend) of Concord, North Carolina, Audrey Ann Crocker Tankersley (Hudson) of Greer, Margaret Greene French (Brian) of Mt. Pleasant, Charlotte Greene Schulte (Jason) of Anderson, and Bria Burke Koskela of Charleston.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2022 at Cane Creek Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. James Bradley and Rev. Dr. Steve Lemons.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Benjamin Hersh Crocker, Robert Evans Crocker, Christopher Brown Fant, Brian Daniel French, Steven Alfred Koskela, Jeffrey Leon Littlejohn, Jr., and Jason Bradley Schulte.

Members of the Union County Lions Club are asked to serve as the honorary escort.

Visitation will be immediately following the services in the Fellowship Hall of Cane Creek Presbyterian Church.
