Mrs. Linda Smith Heatherly, age 86, of 542 Pea Ridge Hwy, Jonesville, widow of Floyd “Stump” Heatherly, passed away, Friday, March 20, 2026, at her home.
Mrs. Heatherly was born March 7, 1940, in Union, a daughter of the late Joe Smith and Emma James. She was a graduate of Union High School and worked for 30 years as the Head Clerk of the Union County Tax Assessors Office. Mrs. Heatherly was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior and member of Bethlehem Methodist Church where she had previously taught Sunday School, was a MYF Leader, helped with VBS, a choir member, and served on several committees and boards.
Surviving are three nieces, Wanda B. Parker and husband Skip, Kathy B. Stone and husband Stephen, and Carol S. Whitener and husband Allen; a nephew, Billy Scales and wife Michelle; two great-nieces, Kristin Whitener and Savannah Scales; one great-nephew, Reid Stone and wife McKayla; a great-great-niece, Brynlee Stone and a great-great nephew, Granger Stone. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melinda Kaye Heatherly and a sister, Emilie Joan Burnett Billings.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Bethlehem Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Lee Coyle, Rev. Chad Ponder, Rev. Glenn Ribelin and Mr. Stephen Stone. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robbie Littlejohn, Stan Gallman, Al Foote, Ken McCraw, Kenneth Horne, and Billy Martin. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Patty Canupp, Judy Kerr, Gayle Wright, Kirklyn English, Marian Belue, Victoria Rose, Jackie Smith, Georgia Martin.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Rd., Union, SC 29379.
The family is at their respective homes.
