Ms. Linda Gale Kingsmore, age 82, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Ms. Kingsmore was born in Union, March 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Archie Herrell Kingsmore and Sue Hyatt Kingsmore of Buffalo. Linda was a 1960 graduate of Union High School and a 1964 graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economic Education. She the earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Winthrop and later a Master Degree in Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
In 2008, Linda retired from a forty-four year career in education as a public school classroom teacher for thirty-six of those years. She gained experience at all levels from Head-Start to Adult Education and all grade levels in North and South Carolina School. In 1987, she was employed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Linda trained classroom teachers in effective teaching practices and evaluated their performances in the classroom. The final eighteen years until retirement involved developing, directing and administering the education program for students admitted to a long-term residential treatment program for chemical addiction.
Linda enjoyed music, gardening, reading and film noir. Having the opportunity to travel extensively, she explored exotic locations, noting the cultures and traditions of the people around the world.
She is survived by one brother, Dannie Jesse Kingsmore and wife Brenda Blackwood Kingsmore of Myrtle Beach; four nephews, Van Eric Kingsmore and wife Sheila of Clarenton, NC, Alan Noel Kingmore of Indian Trail, NC, Donnie Edward Kingsmore, Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Kip Daniel Kingsmore of Myrtle Beach. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Vance Kingsmore of Indian Trail, NC and nine great nephews and nieces and five great-great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a beloved brother, Donnie Edward Kingsmore, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Doug Estes. Burial will follow at Bogansville Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chuck Malone, Randall Liner, Douglas Johnson, Bruce Betenbaugh, Stanley Wells and Mark Haney.
