Linda Smith Parks

Mrs. Linda Smith Parks, age 65, wife of Jackie E. Parks of 759 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Parks was born in Union, July 28, 1953, a daughter of the late Paul and Rachel Sanders Smith. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended the University of South Carolina, Union. Mrs. Parks retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Jay Parks and wife Annette of Lockhart; a sister, Brenda Gallo of Union; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Parks, Kaitlin Parks, Coby Dean, Korbin Dean and Gary Maynor and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Parks was predeceased by a brother, Heyward Smith. The family wishes to express a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Hospice Care of SC, especially Ann Martin, Jamie Duncan and Charlene Gibson along with a special friend, Debra Bradburn for their care and love shown to Linda during her illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott, Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Brian Redding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Friday at the church prior to the services. Active pallbearers will be Terry Bentley, Mack Rash, Joseph Parks, Brian Gaston, John Parks and Dennis Copper. Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist Church, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 759 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Union.
