September 13, 2016 Miss Lisa Nan Ward, age 57 of 1408 Main St., Buffalo, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016. Miss Ward was born in Union, SC May 4, 1959 a daughter of Joyce Johnson Ward Hall of Buffalo and the late Kenneth "Nip" Ward. Lisa was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop University with a B.S. Degree in Education. She taught at Union Middle School, coached softball at Union High School. She, Pap Valentine and their teams won back to back State Championships in 1983 and 1984. Miss Ward previously worked for the County of Union in the Public Works Department. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are her step-father Bobby Hall of the home; one brother, Ken Ward and wife Colene of Union; two nieces, Ashton Ward of Union and Kensley Ward of Lexington; three nephews, Houston Ward, Justin Ward, and Tycen Ward all of Union; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Johnny Burgess and Rev. Lynn Ford. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Ward, Ernell Johnson, Neal Elliott, Christopher Kendrick, Steve Ward, and Phillip Ward. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Bruce Morgan, Donnie Betenbaugh, Jimmy Burton, Maxie Reynolds, Mickey Gist, and Pap Valentine. Visitation will be held after the services at the cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects to Lisa may visit Holcombe Funeral Home between 3:00 PM and 8:30 PM Wednesday evening. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, P.O. Box 428, Buffalo, SC 29321. The family is at the home 1408 Main St., Buffalo where they will receive friends.
