Livia Price Burgess

Mrs. Livia Price Burgess, age 87, of 1080 Meadow Woods Rd., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 10, 2020. She was married for 63 years to the late Lawrence W. Burgess.

Mrs. Burgess was born in Rutherfordton Co., NC, July 19, 1933, a daughter of the late Willie and Maggie Hill Price. She was formerly employed at Torrington Co. and at Her Majesty in Union. Mrs. Burgess was a life-long and faithful member of Putman Baptist Church where she was a nursery worker for over 30 years. She also volunteered with Vacation Bible School and served on various committees within the church.

"Granny" as she was lovingly known, lived most of her life in the Meadow Woods community where her greatest joy was her church, her farm, camping and spending time with her family especially grands and great-grands. She loved cooking, canning, making cakes, and various craft works.

Surviving are three daughters, Kay Ratliff and husband Russ, Judy Mathis and husband Rick and Nancy B. Heatherly and special friend, Larry Munn all of Buffalo; two sisters, Anita Fox and Frances Russo both of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Heather), Lance, Ashley (Jay), Shane (Lara), Emmi (Robbie), Michelle (Scott), Christy (Mike), April (Chris) and Wayne (Kayce); fifteen great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kyle, Kayleigh, Lindsey, Raegan, Maggie, Larissa, Levi, Luke, Taylor, Carson, Candice, Jackson, Chase and Ryder. Mrs. Burgess is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Amber, Janet, Katie, Autumn and Karen at Kindred Hospice along with the following caregivers, Crystal and Sharon for their care and support of Mrs. Burgess and her family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tommy Mann. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Due to the current health issues, the family request that social distancing be recognized.
