Mr. Lonnie Cohen Hickman, age 85, widower of Maudine Wilder Hickman of 1084 Cedar Grove Rd., Jonesville, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hickman was born in Royston, GA September 11, 1929, a son of the late Benjamin Carlyle Hickman and Anna Rebecca Bond Hickman. He retired from Milliken & Co and was a Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Hickman was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, a self-taught artist and a meticulous gardener. Mr. Hickman was a loving husband to his wife of sixty-four years. He was a caring, generous, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are three daughters: Janice Hickman Helms and husband David of Swansea; Barbara Hickman Evans of Leesville; and Rebecca Hickman McCraw and husband Henry Robert McCraw, Sr., of Gaffney; a son, Thomas Carlyle Hickman and wife Deirdre of Hollis, New Hampshire; a daughter-in-law, Margaret C. Hickman of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers; Eugene Hickman of Decatur, GA and Herbert Hickman of Lithonia, GA; eight grandchildren: Wilder Hickman, Langdon Hickman, Deanna Black, Hillary Webber, Sara Hilley, Jessica Baker, John Davis and Jennifer Summey; seven step-grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Mr. Hickman was predeceased by his eldest son, Richard Lonnie Hickman; a sister, Meriam Hickman Smith and two brothers; Nelson Hickman and Ellis Hickman. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Don Alexander. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Donnie Ray Bogan, Brian Thornton, John J. Davis, Nathen Cole Hilley, Wilder Hickman, Jeremy Black and Langdon Hickman. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:15 PM Wednesday in the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bogansville United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, 4052 Buffalo West Springs Hwy, Jonesville, SC 29353. The family is at the home, 1084 Cedar Grove Rd., Jonesville.
