Mrs. Louise Jeter Odell passed away at home on January 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Union on May 17, 1929 to John Mobley Jeter and Louise McKissick Jeter at 701 East Main St., where she still made her home. Mrs. Odell was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she attended when her health allowed. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Limestone College. For many years she was employed by Union County Schools as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Odell was predeceased by her devoted husband of 65 years, Jack Charles Odell, her parents, a sister Lillian Jeter Cooper, brothers, Joseph McKissick Jeter, Robert Bothwell Jeter, Mobley Lewis Jeter. Left to cherish her memory are a son, John Charles Odell (Jacquelyn); two daughters, Jennie Louise Odell and Amy Odell Allen (Jay) and a special niece, Ethel Jeter Sutton (Robert). Mrs. Odell had six grandchildren, Catherine Lazar Odell, John Mobley Odell, Jennifer Gray Knox (Joseph), John Riley Gray, Rebecca Louise Hope (Robert) and Abby Kate Shirley (Collins) and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Union. A private burial will be at Grace United Methodist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Pallbearers will be Al Black, Sam White, Ernie Godshall, Ralph Thompson, Robert Sutton and Ted O'Dell. If you wish to consider a memorial, the family suggest First Baptist Church, 405 E. Main St., Union, SC 29379 or Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29348. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers who lovingly provided for her comfort and care allowing her to remain in the home she loved. A very special thank to Lisa Morgan for years of loving companionship and compassionate care.
