October 31, 2017 Mrs. Lucille Rice Byars, age 91, of 1124 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, widow of William "Bill" Byars, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Byars was born on January 11, 1926 in Cross Keys, SC a daughter of the late William Clough Rice and Lona Mae Humphries Rice. She was a graduate of Cross Anchor High School and was retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant. Mrs. Byars was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Pat Flood Circle and the Seniors Group. Surviving are a daughter, Amanda Byars Prince and husband Edmond W. of Buffalo; two sisters Louise R. Grady of Cross Keys and Connie R. Young of Clinton; one brother, Jim Rice of Cross Keys; two grandchildren, Brooke Prince Holloway and husband David of Greenwood and Sally Prince Woolsey and husband Steve of Payson, UT; two great-grandchildren, Dana Kate Woolsey and William Byars Holloway; and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Benjamin and Helen Brown and two brothers, Bill Rice and Donald Rice. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Ron Towery. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM prior to the services at the Church. The family request that in remembrance of Mrs. Byars's generosity toward others that memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 408 N. Duncan Bypass, Suite C, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her daughter, Amanda and Edmond W. Prince, 1128 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
