Lula Mae (Turner) Burgess

Mrs. Lula Mae "Toots" Turner Burgess, age 92, widow of Larkin N. "Bud" Burgess, of Jonesville, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Toots was born in Union County, SC, March 10, 1933, a daughter of the late J.D. Turner and Pauline Fowler Turner. She was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Toots was a graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Union County Schools. She was previously employed with Associated Petroleum Carriers and Conso Products. Mrs. Burgess was a faithful Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked hard each day, making sure that her family was well taken care of and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are a daughter, Vicki B. Addis and husband, Brent, sons, Dennis Burgess and Mike Burgess and wife Gigi, all of Jonesville. She also survived by a granddaughter, Sarah B. Womack and husband, David; four grandsons, Ray Burgess and wife, Kelli, Blaine Addis, Daniel Burgess and wife, Ashley, Chris Burgess and wife Jennifer; 9 great grandchildren, a sister, Brenda T. Brown of Jonesville, a brother-in-law, Bruce Burgess and wife Peggy of Jonesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by a sister, Helen Howell, a brother, J.D. Turner, Jr., a grandson, Matthew Brent Addis and a great grandson Andrew Brent Addis.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Randy Smith. Mrs. Burgess will be placed in the Holcombe Jonesville Chapel, Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM, where she will remain until 1:30 PM. Visitation will follow the graveside service.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Burgess, Blaine Addis, Daniel Burgess, Chris Burgess, David Womack, Thomas Addis and Hunter Burgess.

The family will be at the home, 152 Sprouse Rd., Jonesville, SC, 29353.
