Mabel Adams Hollingsworth

January 16, 2017 Mrs. Mabel Adams Hollingsworth, age 90 of 106 Crestview Drive, Union, widow of J.C. Hollingsworth, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mrs. Hollingsworth was born in Union, SC October 30, 1926, a daughter of the late James Talmadge Adams and Lelia Irene Gallman Adams. She attended Kelly Pinckney Schools and was retired from Monarch Mill after seventeen years of service. Mrs. Hollingsworth had also worked with Bethel United Methodist Church Day Care for thirty years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are two daughters: Mary Beth Griffin and husband Scott of the home and Rita Fowler McGhee and husband Jerry of VA; two sons: Rev. Steven Fowler and wife Nina of Cayce and Dennis Fowler and wife Nancy of Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Judy Brock Fowler of Portland, OR; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hollingsworth was predeceased by a son, Rev. Ted Fowler. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2017 at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will be in Porter Gallman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard Adams, Talmadge Adams, Marshall Adams, Kenneth Adams, Jordan Lowe, Dan Counts, Mickey Belue and Todd Little. Members of the Senior Sunday School Class of Bethel United Methodist Church are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 PM Monday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Hwy, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 106 Crestview Drive, Union.
