Mr. Macbeth Young "Mac" Long, age 78, husband of Nancy Kingsmore Long of 1418 Main St., Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Long was born in Union, October 17, 1945, a son of the late Senator John D. Long and Annie Holcombe Long. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Long was a veteran of the US Marine Corp having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years, Nancy, are a son, Michael Long of Union; five grandchildren, Betsy Long Cobb and husband Michael, Logan Long who is currently serving in the US Army, Olivia Long, Alleigh Corley and Mason Cobb. He is also survived by a two sisters-in-law, Pat Long and Lou Ann Medford and husband Barry all of Union and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Kingsmore and wife Rozzie of Union. He was predeceased by his son, Jonathan Matthew "Matt" Long and a brother, John D. Long, III.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 1, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Doug Estes. The family will receive friends at the chapel immediately following the services.
