Marcella B. Smith

Mrs. Marcella Burgess Smith, age 89, of Jonesville, widow of Isaac "Ike" Smith, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 29, 2024.

Mrs. Smith was born in Union, September 24, 1934, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Stines Burgess. Marcella worked in textiles and retired from Home Health Care at the age of 82. She was an active member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Upton and husband Marshall; a son, Gerald Howell and wife Angie; a brother, Bruce Burgess and wife Peggy; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Franklin; a son, Ricky Howell; three sisters, Blanche Palmer, Vivian Rochester, and Shirley Horne, and three brothers, Larkin, L.J. and Howard Burgess.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2024 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Randy Smith. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

The family will be at the home, 711 Pea Ridge Hwy., Jonesville.
