Mrs. Margaret Hutto Messer, age 83, widow of Charles David Messer of 136 Oakwood Rd., Jonesville, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Messer was born September 6, 1942, in Chester, a daughter of the late Jacob Walter Hutto and Annie Beatrice Farrel Hutto. She was a member of the Chester First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Messer had worked in textiles but retired after several years of working as a Personal Care Associate, helping the sick and elderly. She was an avid Professional Wrestling fan, loved camping on Sunburst in the mountains, playing rummy, and adored her family.

Mrs. Messer is survived by a daughter, Cathy Ann Redmon and her husband, James Fletcher Redmon of Jonesville, sons, Charles Timmon Messer and his wife, Roberta of TN and David Randolf Messer of NC. She is also survived by grandchildren, Natasha Hill (Tony), Jamie Nabors (Brea), Kasey Messer, Dottie Messer (Jay) Jeremy Messer (Tiffany), Jessica Messer (John), Joshua Yon, Christina Yon Ramirez (Fransico) and Chantzy Yon Abolos (Julio). There are also twenty-eight great grandchildren, with two to be added in the not-too-distant future and ten great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 60 years, Charles David Messer, Mrs. Messer was also preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters and two grandchildren, Wendy Southerland and Benjamin Yon.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service in Maggie Valley, NC, with Pastor Jerry Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow at Fulbright Cemetery in Lake Junaluska, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Cody Hill, Jamie Nabors, Noah Hill, Andre Hall, Dylan Messer, and Tony Stamey.
