Marian Spiller Mccoy

Mrs. Marian Spiller McCarty McCoy, age 92, widow of Edward H. McCoy, formerly of Fant Lane, Union, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Skylyn Place in Spartanburg. Mrs. McCoy was born in Rich Valley, VA, September 30, 1921, a daughter of the late Jackson Beagles McCarty and Laura Spiller Buchanan McCarty. She was a graduate of Virginia-Intermont College and attended King College both in Bristol, VA. Mrs. McCoy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Union where she was a member of Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Fairforest Chapter of the D.A.R. and the Book Club and Garden Club of Union. She held membership in various bridge clubs, a hobby she enjoyed. Surviving are two daughters, Linda McCoy Wittenstein and husband Joseph of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Spiller McCoy Gregory and husband Don of Spartanburg; a brother, Jackson Beagles McCarty and wife Rosamond of Marion, VA; four grandchildren, Tammara Lovett of Woodbridge, CT, Adrienne Lovett of Reno, NV, Alison Gregory of Bozeman, MT and Jeremy Gregory of Spartanburg, and two great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Jacob Katz. The family will receive friends 6:30 until 8:00 PM Friday evening, March 28, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, Union,SC. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Rich Valley Presbyterian Church in Saltville, VA. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 101 W. South St., Union, SC 29379, or to Rich Valley Presbyterian Church, 3834 Valley Rd., Saltville, VA 24370 or to the American Cancer Society,154 Milestone Way, Suite A Greenville, SC 29615.
