Marie Atkinson

October 25, 2015 Mrs. Marie Price Atkinson made her transition to be in the presence of the Lord on October 24, 2015. Marie, also known as "Sister", always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She was born June 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Frank and Lilllie Waldrop Price. Marie was a graduate of Union High School and Piedmont School of Cosmetology. She was formerly employed with Glamour Salon and was the owner and operator of Marie's Wig Shop in Union. Marie had also worked at Quincy's Steak House and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Marie is survived by her two daughters, whom she loved dearly, Donna Marie Mayes (Bryan) and Melanie Ann Hodge; three grandchildren: Eric Davis (Nicole), Allyson Davis (Dashia) and Dyllan Mayes (Tori); seven great-grandchildren: Austin, Dray, Logan, Alexis, Tray, Raiden and Liam. She is also survived by her sisters, Lillie Garner, Margie Cope and Minnie McCraw; many nieces and nephews; several "Grand Pets" whom she found great comfort with; her close friends, Donnie Berry and Betty Atkinson. Marie is predeceased by her husand Jimmy Donald Atkinson, siblings, Betty Mallett, Frances Henderson, Arthur Price, George "Brother" Price, Lawerance Price and Earl Price and also her precious son, Rod Atkinson. Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Glenn Ribelin will lead us in the celebration of life service. The family is at the home of her grandson, Eric and Nicole Davis, 229 Belvue Drive, Union.
