Marie Parks Wix

Mrs. Marie Parks Wix, age 90 of 1135 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, widow of Grady Wix, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Wix was born in Union, SC June 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph Parks and Carrie Lawson Parks. She retired from Her Majesty and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Mrs. Wix served in the Nursery Department for forty years and was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Surviving are two daughters: Cathy Ramsey and husband Francis of Union and Rhonda LeMaster and husband Larry with whom she made her home; a son, Rickey Wix and wife Cindy of Union; a sister, Grace Barber of Union; ten grandchildren: Julie Murphy and husband Matt, Wendy Rector and husband Jack, Steve Wix and wife Shannon, Chris Wix, Carol Haskett and husband Jerry, Gene LeMaster and wife Allison, Justin LeMaster and wife Chasity, Scarlett Gilkinson and husband B.J., Ric Wix, Travis Wix and wife Kelly; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Earl Ashford of Charlotte and a special friend David Trantham of Newberry. Mrs. Wix was predeceased by a son, Danny Wix; five sisters: Ruby Mitchell, Edna Brown, Doris Smith, Ann Parks and Mary Lesley and nine brothers: Horace Parks, Sam Parks, Tom Parks, Jack Parks, David Parks, Donald Parks, Earl Parks, Floyd Parks and Harold Parks. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Faulkner, Rev. Ron Culbertson and Rev. Todd Davis. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Joey Gregory, Steve Crumley, Jerry Williams, Jeff Benson, Paul Sanders, Talmadge Adams, Eddie Wayne Davis and Maxie Ponder. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:30 PM Wednesday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her daughter, Rhonda and Larry LeMaster, 1135 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
