Mario G. Velazquez Tapia

Mr. Mario G. Velazquez Tapia, age 77, husband of Judy Maness Velazquez of Union, passed away, Friday, February 17, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Velazquez was born in Cuernavaca, Mexico on December 9, 1945, a son of the late Carlos Velazquez and Rafaela Tapia.  He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.  Mr. Velazquez was retired from being the owner of a wholesale meat supplier for hotels and restaurants. Throughout his life, he enjoyed training dogs, and going fishing. He was of the Catholic Faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Paula Velazquez Diebert and husband Jeremy Diebert, Gabriela Velazquez Sanders and husband Charles Ray Sanders, III, and Priscilla Velazquez; a brother, Rafael Velazquez of Cuernavaca Morelos, Mexico; and a sister, Luz Maria Roberts of Houston, TX.  He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff at DCI-Union and Spartanburg Regional Hospital, for the care and compassion shown to Mario and his family.
