Marion Venson Poole

Mr. Marion Venson Poole, age 87, husband of Grace James Poole, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at White Oaks Estate. Mr. Poole was born in Ware Shoals, SC October 26, 1926, a son of the late Thomas Newton Poole and Grace Davis Poole. He was a graduate of Clemson University and retired from Milliken & Co Excelsior Mill as plant engineer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a Veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. Mr. Poole was first married to the late Zelia Fleming Poole. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, William Michael Poole of Louisia, VA; two grandsons: Michael Townsend Poole of Union and Travis Lee Poole of Newberry; a sister, Merlin Jo Montgomery of New Mexico and three great-grandchildren. Graveside memorial services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens conducted by Pastor Emily Edenfield. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service. The family is at their respective homes.
