Martha L. Belue

Mrs. Martha Ligon Belue, age 84, widow of Robert E. Belue, Jr., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Heartland of Union. Mrs. Belue was born in Union Co., December 1, 1931, a daughter of the late William and Lola Collins Ligon. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired as supervisor for the Department of Social Services. Mrs. Belue was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, a former Sunday School teacher and had served on the Building Committee. Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Shoaf and husband Tommy of High Point, NC, and Jean Young and husband Terry of Union; three grandchildren, Thomas Shoaf of High Point, NC, Leslie Sykes and husband David of Gilbert, and Stewart Young and wife Chloe of Saluda and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Belue was predeceased by a brother, Bradford Ligon. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Jerry Gossett and Mr. William Earl Sprouse. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, Debt Retirement Fund, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Jean and Terry Young, 126 Clarendon Place, Union.
