Martha Hemphill Lybrand

July 12, 2016 Mrs. Martha Hemphill Lybrand, age 95, of Clinton, SC, widow of James Bernard Lybrand, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her daughter's home in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Lybrand was born in Greenville, SC on January 11, 1921, a daughter of the late Claude M. Hemphill and Annie Wilson Hemphill of Greer, SC. She was a graduate of Lander College in Greenwood and was retired from the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs as a Client Specialist with Whitten Center in Clinton. Mrs. Lybrand was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Clinton, SC where she was a former member of the choir. Surviving are one daughter, Anna Lybrand Boyle of Columbia, SC; one son, James Bernard Lybrand, Jr. and wife Julie of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren, Adrienne B. Whaley of Isle of Palms, SC; Anna Lynn Sproehnle of Apex, NC; Leigh Ellen Lybrand Gray of Charleston, SC and Boston, Mass.; Rebecca Lybrand Alpert of Columbia, Mo.; and Laura Margaret Lybrand of Columbia, SC and five great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July, 14, 2016 at Gilead Baptist Church in Jonesville, SC conducted by the Rev. Rex Wilson, Jr. of Columbia.
