Mary P. Finley

Mrs. Mary Padget Finley, age 95, of Brookside Drive, Union, widow of Claude Daniel Finley, Jr., passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Finley was born September 5, 1927, in Greenwood, a daughter of the late John Landrum Padget and Mamie White Padget.  She attended Montreat College and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Mrs. Finley was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member of Alter Guild and United Methodist Women.  She was a member of Criterion Book Club, the Junior Book Club, a sustainer of the Junior Charity League of Union County, and the Union Cotillion Club.  Mrs. Finley also served on the board of the Union Carnegie Library.  She never met a stranger and to know her was to love her.  Her humor, wisdom and zest for life enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Surviving is a daughter, Jane F. Tate of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Mary-Austin Bolin and husband Rob of Greenville and Jane Snyder and husband William of Palo Alto, CA; and three great-grandchildren, Will Bolin, Mary Finley Snyder, and Dubs Snyder.  She was predeceased by a son-in-law, George Wilson Tate, Jr., five sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Lee Phillips.

Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 201 S. Church Street, Union, SC 29379.
