Mrs. Mary Christine Varner Fleming age 80, of 133 Fleming Hill Rd., Jonesville, widow of Bennie Ronald "Buddy" Fleming, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at her home.
Mrs. Fleming was born in Jonesville, January 8, 1943, a daughter of the late Lewis Dixon Varner, Jr. and Christine Foster Varner. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was retired from the US Postal Service as Postmaster in Whitestone. She previously worked for Kholer and Conso Products. Mrs. Fleming was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.
A very talented artist, she enjoyed painting, quilting and sewing. She loved to grow vegetables and then can and preserve what she grew. She taught her children many skills she lived by and was always encouraging them to be the best they could be. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a wonderful "GrandMary" to her seven grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter, Gaye Fleming Derrick and husband David of Newberry; two sons, Ronald Nathan Fleming of West Springs and Rodney Lee Fleming and wife Melanie of Whispering Pines, NC; two sisters, Patty Morrison and husband Bob, and Vicki Vaughan and husband Donnie all of Jonesville; seven grandchildren, Riley Branham, Ryan Fleming, Ellison Branham, Benson Fleming, Christen Fleming, Tyler Branham and Karson Fleming; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Varner.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2023, at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Miriam Mick.
Active pallbearers will be Ryan Fleming, Tyler Branham, Benson Fleming, Scotty Vaughan, Kevin Fowler and Steven Sprouse.
The family will receive friends after the service at the home, 133 Fleming Hill Rd., Jonesville.
