Mary Ellen Hayes West

Mrs. Mary Ellen Hayes West, age 62, of 636 Old Buncomb Rd., Union, widow of Harold David West, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. West was born in Chattanooga, TN, June 11, 1958 a daughter of the late Johnny and Susan Hayes. She was a very loving and giving person who was considered the neighborhood "mother" and helped her family by caring for her grandchildren.

Surviving are a son Danny Eugene "DJ" Atchley, Jr. of Union; a daughter Sandra Roxanne Atchley of GA; an "adopted" son, Brandon Garner of Cross Anchor; a sister, Maggie Smith; two brothers, Thomas Hayes and Larry Hayes all of TN; grandchildren: Keyaria Susan Smith, Keanu Smith, Tucker Lee Kirby, Kaydance Elizabeth Atchley and three great-grandchildren: Raelyn Sumner, Layla Sumner and Aniyah Sinclair. Mrs. West was predeceased by four brothers, Steve, Lawrence, Travis and Leon Hayes and a sister, Shirley Hayes.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
