Mary Joan Howell New

Mrs. Mary Joan Howell New, age 75, wife of Jacob Leroy New of 116 Sprouse Rd., Jonesville, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Mrs. New was born in Union, May 19, 1950, a daughter of the late Wade Howell and Helen Turner Howell. She retired from Dollar General as an assistant manager and was a member of Faith Community Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Shanon Winchester of Newberry; a sister, Teresa Waldrop and Robert Sumner of Jonesville; and a brother, James Howell and wife Perri of Spartanburg. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley Morgan, Jacob New, Jayden New, Lee New, and Sophie New; two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kristy Winchester, a son, David Winchester, Jr. and a sister, Paula Heatherly.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to Crescent Hospice for the care given to Mrs. New during her illness.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Faith Community Church conducted by Rev. Steven McAbee.

Mrs. New will be carried home, 116 Sprouse Rd., Jonesville, on Wednesday where she will remain until time of the services. The family will receive friends during this time at the home.
