Mrs. Mary Mitchell Johnson, age 85, of 207 Hightower Lake Rd., Union, widow of Edward Johnson, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was born in Greenrock, Scotland, May 20, 1928, a daughter of the late William Kingshott and Laura Laughton Kingshott. She was a member of Lockhart United Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnson worked for Springs Industry in Chester for 35 years, following her retirement she worked for Hope Hospital in Lockhart as a dietitian. Surviving are two sons: John Mitchell of York, and Mike Mitchell of Washington state; Five daughters: Sue Mellon of Union, Paulette Reeves of Spartanburg, Ann Martin of Lockhart, Candy Kingsmore of Winnsboro and Kim Horne of Union; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and two special care givers, Kacie Horne and Joyce Neal of Union. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Lockhart United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Donna Eidson and Rev. Merritt Wentz. The family will receive friends from 1:45 til 2:45 prior to the service at the church. In a lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250. The family is at the home of her daughter and Son-in-law, Kim and Donnie Horne, 207 Hightower Lake Rd., Union, SC.
