Mary S. Mckeown

Mrs. Mary Smith McKeown, age 81, of 124 Pineland Rd., Union, widow of Walter O. McKeown, Sr., passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McKeown was born in Union, May 31, 1942, a daughter of the late William A, Smith and Virginia Wade Smith. She was a 1960 graduate of Union High School and retired from Arthur State Bank. Mrs. McKeown was of the Baptist faith and had been a longtime Sunday School teacher at Ottaray Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth M. Kingsmore and husband Victor of Rock Hill; a son, Niel McKeown and wife Wendy of Union; four grandchildren, Marah and Cayden Kingsmore, Kole McKeown and wife Jordan and Sydney McKeown; one great-grandson, Roan McKeown; a niece, Kathy Plexico and husband Curtis of Union and many other special family members. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly M. Siltzer, a grandson, Malachi Siltzer and a beloved sister, Becky Helms.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Jim Palmer. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Yount, Curtis Plexico, Allen Plexico, Jonathan Adams, Kole McKeown and Cayden Kingsmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union County Council on Aging, 237 N. Gadberry St., Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home, 124 Pineland Rd., Union.
