Mrs. Mary Jeanette Ivey Moss, age 92, formerly of 526 Hart St., Union, widow of James Edward "Jim" Moss, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 24, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother who was also a breast cancer survivor.
Mrs. Moss was born in Union, February 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Fred Wallace Ivey and Lena Greer Ivey. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Conso Products. She was a lifelong member of Sardis Methodist Church where she was a member of the John L. Greer Sunday School class, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Women's Circle #1, a member of the choir, and was a Vacation Bible School worker. Mrs. Moss loved flowers and was well known for her baking, especially her coconut cakes. She exhibited canned goods, baked goods and crocheted items at the fair. She was also a member of the Patch Work Quilters group.
Surviving are a daughter, Pam Lipsey and husband Steve of Jonesville; two sons, James Mike Moss and wife Cheryl and Dennis Moss and wife Jan of Gaffney; and a brother, Rev. James Wallace Ivey of Jonesville. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jonathan Moss, Shaun Moss and wife Nalann, Mitchell Moss and wife Destiney, Ashley Owings and husband Kyle, Freddie E. Moss, Jr., Michelle Cooper and husband Clint, Brandon Moss and wife Melody, Dennis James Moss, Cory Lee, Steve Lipsey, Jr. and wife Sarah, and Nakia Gossett; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one nephew. Mrs. Moss was predeceased by two sons, Frederick Edward "Freddie" Moss, Sr., and Timothy Lynn Moss; two grandsons, Ray "Bit" Barber and James Austin Lipsey and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ivey.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Mrs. Moss and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Sardis Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ron Culbertson. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Moss, Shuan Moss, Mitchell Moss, Steve Lipsey, Jr., Brandon Moss and Kyle Owings.
The following are asked to sit in a group, Judy Bailey, Pearl Crocker, Geanelle Brock and Frances Vaughn.
