Mary Ann Ponder

Mrs. Mary Ann Weakley Ponder, age 89 of Bailey Rd., Union, widow of Thomas Lee Ponder, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Ponder was born December 21, 1932 in Criglersville, VA, a daughter of the late Claude Roosevelt Weakley and Mary Sudie Breeden Weakley. She retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Donna Champion and husband Paul of Inman, Mora Page and husband Eddie of San Diego, CA and Jessie Kay McGown of Virginia; three grandchildren including her heart, Mason Thomas Champion of Inman and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ponder was also survived by two sisters, Margaret Long and Ellen Fox both of Virginia; four brothers, Russell Weakley of Maryland, Robert Weakley, Randy Weakley and John Weakley all of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 7, 2022 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Jeff Farmer. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.
