Mary Ellen Rash Sprouse

Mrs. Mary Ellen Rash Sprouse, age 92 of 313 N. Second St., Lockhart, widow of Samuel H. Sprouse, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 1, 2024.

Mrs. Sprouse was born in Union, January 5, 1932, a daughter of the late Rev. Ernest C. Rash and Roxie Brooks Rash. She was a devoted homemaker and had previously worked for Milliken and Co., Lockhart Plant. Mrs. Sprouse was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Gilchrist and husband Tim of Sharon, Phyllis Gibson of Lockhart and Rita McLeod and husband Scott of Chapin; grandchildren, Jimmy Gilchrist and wife Carla, Rebecca Gilchrist, Rachel Trent and husband Mathew, Corey Gibson and wife Elyssee, Malcolm McLeod and wife Laura, and Thomas McLeod and wife Brooke; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Finnley Trent, Waverly Gibson, Jackson, Mac, Sidney and Chapman McLeod. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Norma House and Tess Wilbanks and special nephews, Tom Jones and Gene Sprouse. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruby Jones and five brothers, Marvin Rash, Arvil Rash, James Rash, Jack Rash and Paul Rash.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for their care of Mrs. Sprouse.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 4, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Mr. Ned Bell. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday at the chapel prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Tom Jones and Mrs. Sprouse's grandsons.

The family will be at their respective homes.
