Mrs. Mary Parr Dixon, age 88 of 1874 Tinker Creek Rd., (Santuck Community), Union, widow of William T. Dixon, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Dixon was born in Union, February 15, 1926, a daughter of the late James Fred and Vera Huskey Parr. She was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Dixon was a retired school teacher having taught in Winnsboro and in many of the schools in Union. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on many committies, and was the past President of the Women's Missionary Union. She was an active member of the Santuck community having helped to found the Santuck Fire Department and Primetimers of Santuck. Surviving are a daughter, Amy Dixon Medlock and husband Eddie of the home; a sister, Virginia Whitlock of Chapin; a granddaughter, Jill Green Crocker and husband Jamie of Santuck; two great-granddaughters, Haleigh Miranda Babb and Mary Elizabeth Babb both of Santuck. Mrs. Dixon was predeceased by a son, William T. "Billy" Dixon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Wiseman and Chaplain Donna Stroud. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held after the services in the church.
