Mary S. Scales

Mrs. Mary Stepp Scales, age 83, of 1132 Meansville Rd., Union, widow of William J. Scales, Sr. passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Scales was born in Union, March 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Ray Dewey Stepp and Pauline Willard Stepp. She was retired from Torrington Co., and was formerly employed with Her Majesty of Union. Mrs. Scales was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Linda S. Pardue and husband Gene of the home; a son, Jeff Scales and wife Eva of Union; a sister, Bea Vaughn of Belvedere, SC; a brother, Richard Stepp and wife Carolyn of North Augusta, SC; two grandsons, Lee Jefferson Scales and Terry Lane Scales both of Union and a great-grandson, Caden Lane Scales. Mrs. Scales was predeceased by a sister, Vivian Gossett and two brothers, Carl Stepp and Ralph Stepp. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2015 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb and Chaplain Rick Brown. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Medi Home Hospice, Dr. David Keith, Lisa Sanders, Tonya Adams and Brenda Lawson for their care and concern of Mrs. Scales during her illness. They also ask that the above named sit in a group for the services. The family will receive friends after the services at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund, 640 Lakeside Dr., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 1132 Meansville Rd., Union.
