Mary Alice Stevenson

Mrs. Mary Alice Stevenson of Union, SC, widow of John William Stevenson, Sr., passed away Thursday afternoon, September 3, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Cleveland and Fannie Louise Traylor. Survivors include: three children: Judy Mahan and her husband Jack of Greenville, John William Stevenson, Jr of Union, and Jackie Chalk and her husband Rodney of Greenville; six grandchildren: Trey Stevenson, Alison Davis (Brian), Andy Stevenson (Gina), Kevin Chalk, Todd Chalk and Brad Chalk; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Grace Barnes and Betty Knotts of Williston and Wilma Duncan of Flat Rock, NC. Mary Alice was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She served in many capacities, including the church choir and was part of the Hostess Committee. She enjoyed her fellowship with the Tabernacle Senior Groups. Mary Alice was a long time employee of the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement. She was a vibrant spirit who loved the Lord and her family. Funeral services will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 915 S. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379 at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2015 conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman. Burial will be at the Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Holcombe Funeral Home, 310 W South Street, Union from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday evening. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Anthony, Wilbur Smith, Don Ray Shetley, Benji Reynolds, Charlie Kelly, Jerry Parks and Terry Young. Members of the Tommy Vaughan Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church or any charitable organization of your choice.
