October 19, 2017 Mrs. Mary Mowdy Walker, age 82 of 1114 W. Main St., Union, widow of Weldon Acy Walker, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Walker was born July 24, 1935 in Kingsport, TN a daughter of the late William Isaac Mowdy and Ethel Mowdy. She was retired from Conso and had previously worked with Milliken & Co-Monarch Mill. Mrs. Walker was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Allen Walker and wife Sharon of Townville and Mark Walker and wife Sandy of Buffalo; three grandchildren that were reared in the home, Kerry Walker and wife Melanie of Spartanburg, Brad Walker of Union, and Gina Powers and husband Kevin of Pacolet; two grandchildren, Roman Walker and wife Emily of Newnan, GA and Brenda Sinclair and husband Junior of Union; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Gertrude Harris and husband Stanley; and one brother, William Thomas Mowdy and wife Brenda. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Shannon Faulkner and Rev. Todd Davis. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brad Walker, Josh Walker, Cody Powers, Kevin Powers, Kerry Walker, and Harold Sinclair, Jr. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her son, Mark and Sandy Walker, 167 Riley Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
