Matthew C. Stapleton

July 13, 2015 Mr. Matthew Christopher Stapleton, age 41, husband of Valerie Hill Stapleton of 150 Neal Rd., Spartanburg, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stapleton was born in Spartanburg, November 1, 1973 a son of Jerry W. Stapleton of Spartanburg and Katherine Welchel Stapleton Tate of Spartanburg. He was a graduate of Tabernacle Baptist College and was the former Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Bloomsburg, PA. Surviving in addition to his wife, mother and father are a daughter Elizabeth Stapleton, a son, Christopher Stapleton both of Gaffney; a brother, Jason Stapleton of Spartanburg; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Stapleton and his paternal grandmother, Laverne Welchel both of Spartanburg. Mr. Stapleton was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Stapleton and his grandfathers, Jerry C. Stapleton and Sam Welchel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 PM at Calvary Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bill Pickel. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at Hammett Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes.
