Maxie Ray Smith

Mr. Maxie Ray Smith, age 65, husband of Betty Levister Smith of 228 Estes Rd., Union, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 28, 2025 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born in Union, April 15, 1960, a son of the late Curtis Cecil Smith, Sr. and Virginia Reid Smith. He was a 1978 graduate of Union High School and had retired from BMW. Mr. Smith had formerly been manager at Hardee's and was also a former member of Union Masonic Lodge #75. He was a member of Leeds Baptist Church in Carlisle and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Leigh Mitchell and husband Dell, and Kelly Tucker and husband Jeffrey all of Union; a sister, Kathy Garrison; and two brothers, Reid Smith and wife Cathy of Columbia and Curtis Smith of Union. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kaleb and Hannah Williams, Quinn and Jackson Tucker, Paul, Daniel, Samuel and Matthew Mitchell, Adrian Jeter and Brayden Dowis and his beloved cat, Spot.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Chad Ponder. Burial will follow at Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Tucker, Jackson Tucker, Grady Tucker, Kaleb Williams, Adrian Jeter, Brayden Dowis, Dell Mitchell and Paul Mitchell.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family will be at the home, 228 Estes Rd., Union.
