Mrs. Maxine Vaughan Duckett, age 85, wife of Colon J. Duckett, of 144 Bates Ave Ext., Union, passed away, Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Duckett was born November 25, 1935 in Union, a daughter of the late Aubrey Vaughan and Bertha H. Vaughan. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended the University of South Carolina at Union. She retired as a secretary from Milliken and Company after over 55 years. Mrs. Duckett was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many capacities. She truly loved God, the Church, her family and friends. Her love and influence was felt by many.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Lynn Austin and husband Mike of Union, Beth Brown and husband Amory of Anderson, and Kaye Sinclair and husband Lynn of Union; two granddaughters, Wendy Cook and husband William and Jamie Duncan all of Union; two grandsons, Shannon Austin and Travis Austin both of Union; five great-grandchildren, Brett Gruver, Elizabeth Johnson, Emma Brown, Caleb Austin, and Gage Martin; a sister, Dorothy Grant and husband Larry of Union; two brothers-in-law, Gene Duckett and wife Mary Ann of Spartanburg and Dennis Duckett and wife Pat of Cowpens; a devoted friend, Roy "Bean" Youngblood; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Dean Vaughan, Joe Earl Vaughan, and James Vaughan and a sister, Rita V. Hines.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, December 28, 2020 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Andrew Austin, Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert, and Rev. Larry Plyler. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. The family request that those in attendance please wear mask and follow all COVID-19 protocol.
Active pallbearers will be Brett Gruver, William Cook, Shannon Austin, Jimmy Chastain, Donnie Warren, Joey Hines, Clay Whisnant, Brice Whisnant, and Travis Austin.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, prior to the services at the church.
The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice, especially Jessica McCarson and Michelle Maness.
