July 8, 2018 Mrs. Melissa Renee Black Lawson, age 48, wife of Phillip Lawson of 1670 Piedmont Rd., Blacksburg, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Lawson was born in Frankfurt, Germany, December 30, 1969, a daughter of the late Robert B. Black and Sharon Marie Turner Black. She attended Woodruff High School and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Lawson was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Kaitlin Lawson of Blacksburg and Rachael Douglas of Charleston; four sons, Chancelor Lawson and Aaron Lawson both of Blacksburg and Brandon Lawson of Salisbury, NC and Randall Lawson of Shelby, NC; a brother, Dean Black of Vanwert, OH and four granddaughters, Ashleigh and Trista Douglas, Anna Lee Lawson, and Mariah Lawson. She was predeceased by a sister, Roberta B. Waldron and two brothers, Forest Black and Stuart Black. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation in the church fellowship hall will immediately follow the services. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 82 Orchard Park Dr., Greenville, SC 29615. The family will be at the home, 1670 Piedmont Rd., Blacksburg.
