Mr. Melvin "Buck" Lancaster, age 83, husband of Lena Dockery Lancaster of 225 S. Boyce St., Union, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Lancaster was born in Union, September 14, 1933, a son of the late Ellis Lancaster and Virginia Varner Lancaster Lawson. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where until his health declined, was a faithful member, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Lancaster was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He was an avid truck driver and CBer whose handle was "Humpty Dumpty". Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Debra Lancaster Falls of the home; two sons, Ellis E. Lancaster and companion Carolyn Edwards of Adamsburg and Rev. Ricky D. Lancaster and wife Marcia Kennedy Lancaster of Yanceyville, NC; a nephew Ronald Maness of Landrum; a niece Frances Maness of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Lancaster was predeceased by a sister, Ora Dean Sanders. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 PM Friday, August 4, 2017 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ross Wilson and Mr. Richard Miller. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 763 Neal Shoals Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 225 Boyce St., Union.
