Michael Gene Kirby

September 11, 2016 Mr. Michael Gene Kirby, age 67, husband of Gail Kirby of Smyrna passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016. Mr. Kirby was born in Union, SC August 27, 1949 a son of the late Paul Gene Kirby and Dorothy June Chesser Kirby. He was a graduate of Union High School and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Kirby owned his own business and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Kimberly Kirby Barton and husband Benjamin of Athens, GA; one son, Ashley Kirby and wife Merrilee of North Charleston; one step daughter, Lisa Tamaye and husband Justin of Darien, CT; one step son, James Manos of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Mary Ann Neal and husband Bobby and Teresa Kirby all of Rock Hill; one grandson, Kai Kirby of North Charleston; two step-grandchildren, Lukas Tamaye and Jace Tamaye both of Darien, CT; and two nephews, Robert Neal and Patrick Neal both of Rock Hill. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Paul and Ruby Kirby and his maternal grandparents, Seaborn and Belle Chesser. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Josh Freeman. Visitation will be held after the services in the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at their respective homes.
