Michael D. Kitchens

January 9, 2018 Mr. Michael D. "Bucky" Kitchens, age 81, husband of Donna Barber Kitchens of 103 Hart St., Union, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home. Mr. Kitchens was born in Union, September 30, 1936, a son of the late Hubert and Virginia Cunningham Kitchens. He was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from the City of Union, Gas Crew. Mr. Kitchens was a veteran of the US Army having served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Beulah Hunt Camp. Mr. Kitchens was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, David Kitchens (Stephanie) and Mark Kitchens (Mandy) all of Union; six grandchildren, Margaret Roberts, Laura Crisp (David), Erica Kitchens, Michael Kitchens and girl-friend Charlie Greene, Anna Harris and Lee Kitchens; two great-grandchildren, Lilah Crisp and Logyn Kitchens; a niece, Cindy Van Buren of Chapin and three special friends, Richie Brown, Joe Stepp, and Patrick Russell all of Union. Mr. Kitchens was predeceased by a sister, Judy Kitchens Johnson. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Childers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MSA Hospice, 720 S. Duncan ByPass, Suite C, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 103 Hart St., Union.
