Michael Leon Lancaster

Mr. Michael Leon Lancaster, age 59, husband of Candi Sherbert Lancaster, of 892 John Hart Rd., Jonesville, passed away, Monday, March 21, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lancaster was born September 5, 1962, in Union, a son of Shirley Jean Lee Lancaster of Jonesville and the late Wayne Lancaster.  He was a 1980 graduate of Jonesville High School and was a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and Fire Academy.  Mr. Lancaster began his career at the Jonesville Police Department and later worked for Union Public Safety and the City of Laurens, before retiring in 2021 as SGT from the Union County Sheriff's Office after 28 years.  He owned and operated Union Awning and Iron.  Mr. Lancaster was a member of Redemption Baptist Church of Laurens.  He was a member of the Prudence Masonic Lodge No. 139 and the Hejaz Shriners.  Mr. Lancaster loved his family, enjoyed helping people and being outdoors.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three sisters, Grace Campbell and husband John of Lyman, Kathy Lancaster of Spartanburg, and Julie Adams and husband Dean of Jonesville; a brother, Craig Lancaster and wife Tina of Jonesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother Dennis Lancaster and wife June.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 25, 2022, at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Greg Black and Rev. Ralph Byars.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Joseph Lancaster, Alan Lancaster, Mitch Adams, Al Griffin, Danny Mize, David Garrett, Carl Smith, and Frank Lancaster.  The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Eddie Williams, Dean Allen, Troy Brewington, his Breakfast Buddies and current and former employees of the Union County Sheriff's Office and Union Public Safety.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.

Memorials may be made to Redemption Baptist Church of Laurens, 24314 US Hwy 221 North, Enoree, SC 29335 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.

The family is at the home of his mother, 896 John Hart Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
