Dr. Michael M. Mahan, age 79, husband of Nancy Coleman Mahan of Glendale Rd., Union, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Mahan was born September 30, 1940 in Orlando, FL, a son of the late Dr. Floyd R. Mahan and Eleanor Davis Mahan. He was a graduate of Georgia Christian Institute, Abileen Christian College in Texas, and Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. Having practiced in Union for many years, Dr. Mahan was a retired third generation Chiropractor. He followed his father and paternal grandparents in the "family" profession. Grandmother Mahan was among the first female licensed Chiropractors.
Dr.Mahan was a Veteran of the United States Army having been stationed in South Korea during the 1960's. Dr. Mahan was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he had been a member of the choir. He was a member and Past-President of the Union Rotary Club. Dr. Mahan was an honorary airport commissioner and was a private pilot.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lisa M. Rowe and husband Charlie of Grovetown, GA; a son, David P. Mahan of Union; two grandchildren, Taylor Alexander and husband Cody and Michael R. Foster; two great-grandchildren, Eli M. Dudley and Cali A. Alexander; and two brothers, Val Mahan of Georgia and Randy Mahan of Columbia. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Maureen Mahan and two brothers, Harry Carl Mahan and Jack Roper Mahan.
