Ms. Christie Michelle Helton, age 50, of 104 Churchill St., Union, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Ms. Helton was born in Union, April 4, 1974, a daughter of Vicki Cobb McCully of the home and the late Jackie Helton. She was a 1992 graduate of Union High School and received a degree from the University of South Carolina in Psychology. Michelle was Director of Human Resources at Wallace Thomson Hospital and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She truly loved and cared for animals and leaves behind her beloved pets, Bentley, the sunshine of her life and her cat Finley, who she loved dearly.
Surviving in addition to her mother is a step sister, Tina Davis (Wayne) of York; three uncles, Ray Cobb (David) of Columbia, Steve Cobb and wife Becky and Rev. Scott Cobb and wife Rhonda all of Union; nieces and nephews, Alexis McGowan, Ayden Boughman, Madeline Davis (Frank), Trent Davis and wife Samantha and Brynlee Davis. She is also survived by a beloved aunt, Nancy Yockel of Union; a godson, Michael Cobb and wife Betsy and additional family members are Mason Cobb, Spencer Cobb, Sophia Cobb, Alleigh Corley and Harmon Elle who is named after Michelle. Michelle is also survived by the very special and beloved Elle's Angels, Julie Bailey, Becca Schambach, Mary Kelly Wilson, Brooke Valentine, Jennifer Lavoie, Jo Ellen Addis, Cindy Crocker and Cathy Ramsey. She was predeceased by a sister, Brandi Helton Boughman; a cousin, Will Cobb; her step-father, John McCully; and her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Gail Cobb.
The family wishes to say a special Thank You to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, her Dream Team Doctors, Mrs. Pearl Crocker and the many special friends who have given their support throughout the years.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2025 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Faulkner, Rev. Todd Davis and Rev. Scott Cobb.
The following are asked to sit in a group, Elle's Angels, Pearl Crocker, Joyce McDade and her Dream Team Doctors.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union County Animal Shelter, c/o Supervisors Office, 210 W. Main St., Union, SC 29379 or to New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Rd., Union, SC 29379.
