Mona Cranford Elrod

October 4, 2017 Mrs. Mona Cranford Elrod, age 71, wife of Charles Elrod of 502 E. Butler St., Lexington, SC came to the end of her earthly journey and on to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, October 2, 2017. Mrs. Elrod was born in Union, SC on August 7, 1946 a daughter of the late Dallas L. Cranford and Elvie Treadway Cranford. She was a graduate of Union High School and Cecil's Business College. Mrs. Elrod had retired from Milliken & Co.-Cedar Hill Plant and later worked for the Union County Disability and Special Needs Board. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and attended Lexington Baptist Church in Lexington. Surviving in addition to her husband of twelve years are a step-daughter, DeAnne Elrod Corley; one brother, Micky Cranford; one nephew, Tony Cranford and wife Rhonda; one niece, Susan Grady and husband Scott; three great-nieces, Erin Grady, Sarah Catherine Cranford, and Hannah Elizabeth Cranford; one great-nephew, Benjamin Grady and wife Kaylee; and one great-great-niece, Harper Mae Grady. She was predeceased by one sister-in-law, Alice Cranford. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jim Palmer. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Scott Grady, Benjamin Grady, Tony Cranford, and Paul Greer, II. The staff of the Union County Disability and Special Needs Board is asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend much appreciation and gratitude to the Amedisys Hospice of Lexington, SC for their love, care, and support of Mrs. Elrod.
