Monty Joe Bogan

Mr. Monty Joe Bogan, age 75, of Union, widower of Gail Garner Bogan, passed away, Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Bogan was born July 24, 1946, in Union, a son of the late W.T. Bogan and Janie Morrow Bogan.  He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.  Mr. Bogan was retired from the South Carolina Public Service Commission and was an active Union County businessman. He was a veteran of the SC National Guard having served in the Jonesville Unit and was a member of the Jonesville American Legion. Mr. Bogan was a Mason with the Jonesville Masonic Lodge and was a Hejaz Shriner.  He was a member of the NHRA and IHRA of Drag Racing and a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Damita "Dede" B. Frost and husband Gary of Spartanburg; a son, Monty Bogan, Jr. and wife Kim of Boiling Springs; a sister, Monica Bogan Price of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Aaron Thomas Frost and wife Lauren, Brett Michael Frost, Chadwick Conlon Frost, Megan Parr, Grant Parr, and Eva Mullinax; a niece, Haley Williams and husband Michael of Spartanburg; two great-nieces, Janie and Ruth Williams; and a godson, Charlie Wilson of Jonesville.  He was predeceased by a son, Jeffery Scott Whitt and an infant brother Fredrick Wayne Bogan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, March 25, 2022, at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Wally Culp and Rev. Shep Bevis.  Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Bradley, Harold Gault, Scott Robinson, Ray Treadway, Tom Lukans, Aaron Thomas Frost, Brett Michael Frost, and Chadwick Conlon Frost.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM prior to the services at the Church.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Dede and Gary Frost, 219 Dares Ferry Rd., Spartanburg, SC.
