Mrs. Hazel Roberta Vinson, age 71, wife of Robert Vinson of 125 Pineland Avenue, Union, took her heavenly flight Sunday morning January 12, 2014 following an extended illness. Mrs. Vinson was born December 6, 1942, a daughter of the late Robert L. Foster and Hazel Goforth Foster. She was a 1961 graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Nestle. Mrs. Vinson was a member of New Life Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class and the adult choir. Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters: Rhonda Tuttle and husband Scott of Sedalia, MO, Kristi Vinson of the home and Heather Black of Union; two sons: Robbie Vinson and wife Missy and Kevin Vinson and wife Anitra all of Union; nine grandchildren: Andrea Black, Jada Tuttle, Caleb Tuttle, Joshua Tuttle, Emily Vinson, Ryan Vinson, Brooklyn Stevens, Alyssa Vinson and Bethany Vinson; two "special granddaughters", Sara and Elizabeth Freeman; a sister, Sandra Thompson of Union; a brother, Robert "Bob" Foster, Jr and wife Carol of Lexington and a special friend, Kay Miller. She was predeceased by a sister, Gayle Vinson. Mrs. Vinson's life long generosity followed in death as she donated her body to medical research. A Celebration of Life worship service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shannon Faulkner and Rev. Shep Bevis. Member's of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class of New Life Baptist Church are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service at New Life Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 502 Meansville Rd., Union, SC 29379 or to Alumni & Development Records Duke University Chapel, Box 90581, Durham, NC 27708-0581. A special thank you to Kristi Vinson, Mrs. Vinson's daughter, for her love and care during Roberta's illness. Krist gave tirelessly of her time and devotion and was by her side until the end. The family is at the home, 125 Pineland Avenue, Union.
