May 11, 2017 Elsie B. Russell Union, S.C. Mrs. Elsie Blackmon Russell, age 88, of 549 Pineland Rd., Union, widow of Elijah Paul Russell passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Russell was born in Lancaster, SC, January 5, 1929, a daughter of the late Fred and Clara Baker Blackmon. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and was retired from Jon Wolfe Industries in 1999. Mrs. Russell was a faithful member of Philippi Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn R. Carver and husband Larry D. Carver of Fishersville, VA; a son, Stanley Paul Russell of the home; and two brothers, Ned Blackmon and wife Margaret and Donald Blackmon and wife Nancy all of Lancaster. Mrs. Russell was predeceased by two brothers, Chalmers Blackmon and Bryan Blackmon. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30PM Saturday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist Church Mission Fund, 327 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 549 Pineland Rd., Union.
