Obituary

Mrs. Nancy Porter Clayton, age 84, of Jonesville, SC, widow of Charles “Bobby” Clayton, Sr., passed away on August 9, 2026. She was born February 27, 1942, in Pea Ridge to the late William Roy “Bill” Porter and Josie Belk Porter Fowler. Nancy was a homemaker, who lovingly cared for her family and found happiness in sewing, canning, baking, and sharing the fruits of her labor with those she loved. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Clayton is survived by two sons, Charles Clayton (Kim), Wayne Clayton (Sandy) and a daughter, Tammy Vaughan (Johnny). Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clayton was predeceased by three siblings, Joe David “Bud” Porter, Hazel Horne, and Betty Dabbs. She was also predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Harper Riddle.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Scott Cannon. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.

The family would like to thank caregivers Lisa Wade, Sally Gist, and the staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Center, and Spartanburg Regional Hospice House for their love and care for our Mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jonesville Baptist Church, C/O Funeral Meal Fund, 301 Church Street, Jonesville, SC 29321.

The family is at the home of her son Charles (Kim) Clayton, 1530 Bobby Faucette Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
